How to identify Real Honey & Duplicate/Fake/Adulterated Honey

Real Honey:

Pure honey comes directly from honeybees and not factories. The honey made from the nectar of flowers grown in nature, is extracted from the beehives and brought directly to you without any processing for natural essense. Pure Honey may contains bee propolis. Propolis is a kind of jelly which is a natural compound made by bees from saliva and tree buds and other natural source known to heal wounds and fight bacteria.

Honey obtained from honey bees, which is highly nutritious and laden with numerous medicinal properties. It contains all naturally occurring antioxidants, pollen, enzymes, vitamins, and natural minerals. Pure Honey is not dissolved in water.

Fake Honey:

Fake honey is ‘honey’ that has been added glucose, dextrose, molasses, sugar syrup, invert sugar, flour, corn syrup, starch, or any other similar product, other than floral nectar. It is similar to real honey. Fake honey is easily dissolved in water.

Pure Honey: Upon heating, pure honey caramelizes quickly but does not make foam.

Fake Honey: Forms foam and becomes bubbly because of the added moisture, sugars and water.

  • Water Test –

Pure Honey: Pure honey is not dissolved in water.

Fake Honey: Fake honey is easily dissolved in water because of additives.

  • Bread test – 

Pure Honey: When spread on a slice of bread, the bread will become solid in a few minutes.

Fake Honey: It will wet and moisturize the slice of bread because of additives.

  • Impurities – 

Pure Honey: Presence of impurities: dirty-looking particles, pollen and bee body parties.

Fake Honey: Absence of impurities.
